Lughnasadah (Lúnasa) 2026

Lughnasadah (Lúnasa) is the first of the three harvest festivals on the Wheel of the Year

Followed by Mabon and Samhain. With the abundance of the first harvest bread has been baked, preserves made, oils have been pressed, weanlings are ready for market. This is when people came to town to trade, handfast and celebrate.

Lughnasadah is named after Lugh, the Celtic god of light and bringer of heat. Lugh is master of all crafts, gifted in all games, and is the initiator of genius within us all.

This Lughnasadah the flock will build a 2.5′ – 3′ straw effigy to Lugh to present offerings of thanks and for continued abundance. After the celebration Lugh will be composted for use in spring as flock group seedling project. In respect to our dry climate we can not burn our Lugh effigy. This is to be a Family Inclusive Celebration • Grilling/BBQ • Potluck Charcuterie Board • Revery • Games • Crafts.

We kindly request minimum of 5 Family Save the Date RSVPs by July 15 for this event to move forward.

In the spirit of the abundance of Lúnasa each flock member attending will be asked to contribute what they can to the event.
